My Story

In 2013 my father moved from Florida in to the house next door to me in Michigan, it had been 2 years since my mother had passed and he was struggling to take care of his everyday needs. Caring for my elderly father was initially a seamless duty, filled with fond memories and shared laughter. However, as time progressed, so did the challenges. His once sharp mind began to falter, leading to forgetfulness and moments of confusion. Simple tasks became arduous battles, and the roles gradually reversed as I became the caregiver and he, the dependent. Each day brought new hurdles, from managing medications to handling medical emergencies. Despite the difficulties, our bond only deepened, strengthened by moments of vulnerability and unwavering love. I juggled responsibilities, balancing work and raising my two young sons while ensuring his comfort and well-being. Witnessing his gradual decline was heart-wrenching, yet it taught me resilience and the value of cherishing every moment.

As my father’s needs outpaced what I could provide at home, the decision to move him into assisted living loomed large. The overwhelming choices seemed like an intricate maze, each option promising different levels of care and amenities. Researching facilities became a full-time endeavor, comparing services, costs, and locations.

So, I decided to contact one of the large online senior referral companies and things became so much worse. Our names were put on lists everywhere and I was inundated with emails, text messages, phone calls at all times of the day. I had to listen to sales pitches for every senior living facility in the area, even ones that were not a good fit, and ones with not so great reputations. It was clear the large national company just wanted to place my dad quickly without regard to his actual needs.

That whole experience made this journey even more overwhelming. That is why I decided to start Live Well Senior Options. I wanted to become a locally owned service for local families and their loves ones, that operates with compassion, care that adheres to a high standard of ethics, to help find the right senior living community.
